I feel really comfortable installing something this simple
ALL DEFINITELY STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT COMPANY WILL NOT SUPPORT YOU IF YOU HAVE ISSUES, THEY JUST WANT MORE MONEY FROM YOU. READ ON FOR MY EXPERIENCE. I have over 20 yrs in IT experience, I feel really comfortable installing something this simple.Purchased product May 2017 for $27 and some change. Setup was easy, received 39 channels OTA. Worked good had to run Auto search a few times but still was receiving 39 channels, then in July 2017 was only receiving 3 channels. Ran Auto search numerous times, same 3 channels. Went on roof inspected coax all connections secure, check direction of antenna (has not moved since initial install), since I did all this, everything I did prior to installing IVIEW I could rule out it's not my antenna or connections. Pulled out IVIEW manual for trouble shooting. Went to their website as manual said and downloaded update per manuals directions. IVIEW unit recognized USB but did not see any files. HMM. Ok maybe bad USB, so I tried two more USBs same results as first USB. Contacted IVIEW customer support via e-mail and informed them everything I have done. Jasymne replied telling me do to do update via their website, this clearly showed me she did not read my e-mail cause if she did she would have seen I had already tried that numerous times with different USBs. I reponded to her telling I did that already, she responded back by sending me the link to their website where I could download the update. See where this is going. The company that makes this product has no problem fixing the unit (send it back to them) or sending a new one, HERE COMES THE CATCH, they will need $20 for shipping and handling for a product all boxed up that weighss less than 2lbs or to receive a new one. I did research before purchasing one of these units and IVIEW had very good results even LiveWire rated it as #1. Clearly LiveWire tested it and never conducted follow up testing after the product had been in use for awhile. Very clearly this company is about money and not customer support. I personally feel they know they have a bad product and hope customers will just forget about it and purchase another device from someone else and not request a refund. Here is what I found out about a refund, you have to send them everything that came in the package and $20 for shipping and handling. This would deter anyone from wanting a refund, why pay $27 for a product that goes bad and company says they will refund you, just send product back everything that came in the box and $20 for shipping and handling.

Scheduling a recording is easy but has a few quirks
I use this as a clear qam decoder for pvr/dvr. It took me a few seconds to figure out how to switch to cable mode before doing a channel search. The channel search took a very long time. However it tuned every channel I was expecting. After the search was complete I spent the time removing all the scrambled channels (they are indicated by a $ sign and it also informs you it is "scrambled" ). As others have indicated, the channel number and channel order is not indicative of what is expected. However no worries, under the same place where you remove scrambled channels, you can also rename the channels and move/relocate them in the list. This was helpful to get the sub channels sequential with the main channels. This process does take time, but its worth the effort...Scheduling a recording is easy but has a few quirks. To schedule you just push the scheduling button. The quirks 1) the programming time is in military time even though the clock setting is not set for military time. 2) at the bottom of the scheduling menu, you have to change the mode from view to record. Otherwise the unit will turn on at your scheduling recording time to play the show in live mode. I wonder if this was for recording say out to an old school VCR. The unit also automatically turns off after it has completed the recording.I have this unit connected to my LED TV via HDMI. It is just as crisp and clear as the TVs built in clear qam decoder. The coax connection is not a pass through. Its specially designed to send its signal to an old TV set to channel 3 or 4. Just like in the "old" days in connecting a VCR to the TV. I used a splitter to send a separate signal to my TV and to this unit.I have a 128gig USB flash drive connected for dvr/pvr recording (staples has a special this week for $23). Depending on the video quality of the broadcast, it takes 4-5 gig per hour for recording.4 Stars because of some of the oddities, but it can't be beat for the price.

small, cute, effective
I've owned 2 iView 3500stbII conv boxes for a couple of years now. I've had a multitude of problems with them...the biggest is the inability to record a tv program without it rejecting the stick or HDD. I found that the USB sockets were inferior...so I installed new USB sockets...now one works ok and the other...well...I ended up purchasing this 3200stb to see if it would work ok. Here's my report. There are differences between the units. 1. no LED readout on the 3200 front panel...which is actually good...the channels do not corrospond to actual channels on the 3500 anyway. 2. You cant record a TV program on the 3500stbII and play it back on the 3200stb...different recording formats even tho they are .mts files. the 3200 just rejects the file. the 3200stb does not record dolby digital. 3. recording on the 3200 will only do PCM and plays back about 4 times louder than original program. it IS stereo...just not 5.1. 4. one good thing is when you power down the 3200, the HDD turns off with it. the 3500 has a constant 5v out even when off (I'm guessing so you can use it to charge your phone)..so if you have a HDD hooked up, it's always on (standby).5. This thing is tiny and plastic and has no rubber feet. after hooking up the cables it is hard for it to sit in any useful position. I added bumper feet which helps. All in all it functions well with a rather small remote...but nothing great to complain about ....yet. I'll keep updating as I use this.UPDATE: Ive had constant issues recording TV shows...I get buffer problems when recording at HD settings...Problem solved. I found a SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 flash drive on Amazon for around $13. 32gb and runs perfectly with this unit. Also...I have had no problems other than random audio garbles when channels change...requires restart. All in all, produces a crystal clear image and full 5.1 audio on my 100' projection tv system.
