Down Under Leather Hat

pulled out of box..nice...I use to be 7 3/8..suppose still am.. ordered a large... fits perfect...so comfortable dont want to take it off...

Love this hat bought a brown one at local fair and liked so much bought the black one here,my every day hat wear it whenever go out

Bought this to replace a Filson Hat ruined by the dry cleaners. This is a very Well Constructed Hat. IMO, runs slightly larger than what I expected in the XXL, but I typically do run between hat sizes and this is easily remedied with hat foam. It would be nice to have a tag with basic instructions. The ears provided for adding an after-market chin-strap is a nice feature for those living in windy climates. My wife says she likes the looks of this better than the Filson Hat, and it runs about $20 less. My daughter must like it too, as she said she wants one for herself!One suggestion for the manufacturer.... it would be nice to have basic hat care instructions provided on a fabric tag (or at the very least a printed link to the hat care tab within in the [...] webpage:[...]. Also, I read elsewhere that hats hold their shape better when laid flat on their crown, rather than a brim or storing it vertically on peg. If you agree, this may be worth adding to your hat care instructions.

Believe me, this runs large. You'll probably need to order a size down but it is a very handsome and well made hat. My 20 yr old son really liked it when it came in but it spun on his head. He ordered the medium although his head circumference is actually somewhere btwn a med and a lg. I recommended he get the med and it's still too big...he has a very normal, avg size head! So he's sending in for a small and hopefully it will fit and not be too small. I'll write another review when the small comes in.Well, the small fit his head better but it looked too small, the brim was smaller and the top (crown?) was smaller than the medium...too small and didn't look right on him. So he kept the med and returned the small. He just doesn't wear it outside on a windy day. It is possible to put an extra strip of something up under the brim that would not be noticeable and would make the fit more secure. The picture is him with the medium.

When I got it the person had shoved it in my mailbox, it looked like it was going to be ruined but when I took it out of the box it was fine and the sizing chart was spot on it fit my head perfectly. Nothing wrong with it at all

You should immediately protect the leather with saddle soap or something else that seals it. I didn't do it right away, and two droplets of water got on the top causing the leather to bubble slightly.The nylon tag can be seen sticking through the seam in the rear of the hat. Its black, so its not too noticeable until you get close.After using it about about once or twice a month for a couple months, the braid in the back has started to unravel. I'm not doing anything particularly energetic either. Just walking around a county fair and playing golf.

Seller got the hat to me very quickly. Great looking hat, and quite well made. Truly "crushable" but, surprisingly, it does not feel floppy, and holds its shape very well. I was also glad to find that the Hat Band was well and sturdily made. So many of the hats made these days skimp on the quality/durability of the bands. And, surprisingly, though it is not shown in the pictures or mentioned in the Product Information, the hat also had a chin-string (which comes in handy while riding or on windy days).This hat is definitely worth every penny! Even more so when considering that I had seen and tried numerous hats of this style, made by a dozen or so different manufacturers, and the next-least-expensive ones cost at least three times as much ($125.00 - $150.00), a number of the more expensive ones cost six to seven times as much ($250.00 - $300.00), AND - in my opinion - didn't look nearly as good; whose leather didn't have the wonderful softly pliant feel, while still maintaining its classically styled look.Unfortunately, even though I measured my head, precisely, then applied that measurement to the Size Chart, the hat was too large. So, I ordered a second hat that is one size smaller. I received the replacement hat quickly, and with no hassles, and it fits perfectly.The only thing that put me off just a bit was that the replacement hat is so dark that it looks black when compared to the first hat. (I know this because the replacement hat got here so quickly, that I still hadn't returned the first one before the second arrived.) And, placing the two hats side-by-side, the second hat looks black. You have put it next to something that is DEFINITELY black (like black plastic or black ceramic dinner plates etc.) before you can tell that it is actually a dark, DARK brown. In bright, direct sunlight, you can tell that it's brown, but a very VERY dark brown.If I'd known that some of the browns could be that dark - instead of the browns shown in the picture, and the brown of the first hat I received (which was too large) - I would have contacted the seller, first, and let them know that I wanted another medium/dark brown, instead of a dark/dark brown. But, I'm so happy/satisfied with the hat, that it would have had to be pink, purple, green, orange, turquoise, or red before I'd have sent it back. I'll probably buy another, but this time I'll stipulate a medium, or medium-dark brown when I place my order.zenovice

I have a fairly large head (24 3/8") so buying a hat is always a crapshoot. I got the XXL size and it fit me snugly, but not uncomfortably. This hat is exceptionally high quality and I've worn it every day since it arrived. Shipping was much faster than I expected. I don't know how Conner Hats can sell these hats this inexpensively and turn a profit. A hand-made all leather hat of this quality would be a steal at twice the price.
