Soft focus and striped socks
This book is a showcase of the Fiesta and Knave magazines from the 1970s. Print quality is excellent and there is plenty of content. It illustrates the period in which hair could be shown, the makeup was a little heavy and stripey knitted socks were a glamour fashion item. This period appeals to me because photography went further than the erotic suggestion of the 50s and 60s, but before the more explicit content of the 1980s girlie mags. The content is single photo selections from said magazines. It does not contain the entire series of a photoshoot, so each imeage has to be taken in its own content. This means relying on the editor's choice of shots, which in some cases was dissapoining. For example the shot of the fully clothed showgirl is from a certain series in Fiesta and could have been made more memorable, if some of the other shots from the shoot in which the model's knee high boots are so wonderfully portrayed could have been included. But in general the selection is a good cross-section of material from the era. This book will certainly appeal to fans of the period and especially nostalgic for those show may have seen or remember the sets from the original magazines.

Excellent.
As far as the quality of the product goes this is excellent, great quality reproduction, great quality paper, binding etc. As for the contents the usual clichés apply, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, you can't please all the people all the time, etc, etc; but for me most of the girls are good looking and sexy and obviously of their time; ie this is before trimming and waxing when bush was king. Not sure why they went for a square format rather than the portrait format of the original magazines. As other people have mentioned it's a shame they haven't credited the girls and photographers or given details of which issue they were in. Also I remember Knave at least, not sure about Fiesta, having a Readers' Wives section but nothing seems to be included from that. Shame. Still, it's a great buy and a great read. Well OK there's not actually many words. LOL!, but you know what I mean!

The decade that taste didnt forget
Third in the collection of Fiesta and Knave glamour shoots, the 1970's does not disappoint, beautiful girl next door types, in i am pleased to say, extreme states of undress, looking through you maybe able to tell what are at the tail end of the 70's and what are from the earlier part, makes a good talking point, and makes a great excuse if one was needed to stare at the pages, going further than the preceding books, there is nothing in here to shock or upset, full colour pictures each filling a page sometimes a full page spread is required, deserved and delivered! An ideal gift for yourself or for a fan of glamour.
