CSP-30-2 Wire Stripper

I can finally stop using side cutters to strip wires - which sometimes works, and most of the time doesn't. The Hakko wire stripper is easy to use thanks to the comfortable handles and spring loaded return mech. It can strip wires of many sizes - easily identifiable since the wire sizing is stamped into the blade. The serrated tips work great for gripping wires (for example, if you're fishing a wire through a hard to reach area) and the built-in lock keeps the tool closed for safety and storage. The quality is also there too - I can see myself using this tool for many years to come.

Hakko / CHP are the best tools available for small electronics. We use them exclusively and have about 5 electronics workstations with Hakko Irons and CHP hand tools. This set of strippers is our "secondary set". We use mostly 20 and 22 AWG wire, and this set of strippers covers larger wire. As a result, the 20AWG die is all the way out at the end limiting your leverage and changing our technique. So we use these for 10 - 16 AWG only, and use the CSP-30-7 as our "primary" strippers because the 20 AWG is located in the middle of the stripping section on those, allowing you to use more perfect form to reduce severed strands. CHP is the best. I strongly recommend these, but consider what gauge wire you will be using the most of and buy the set that fits that need the best. If you are a commercial or residential electrician stripping solid core wire (romex) or heavy duty stranded wire, I would not use these for that. They are more delicate and not intended for that. If you do electronics or automotive work where you are using standard stranded wire (UL1569/UL1007), these are what you want for sure.

Strips wire without cutting any strands. Precise sized holes. Comfortable in the hand. But I needed to tighten the rivet on the lock, because it is easy to lock them shut when stripping wires. When you strip hundreds of wires every day, that can be very aggravating. *Update on my last pair. Quality is not there on this last pair. Doesn’t cut small guage stranded wire like the dozen or so I’ve bought in the past. Unhappy with these. The wire just bends over the cutting edge instead of cutting. * Will have to reorder a new pair. For the price they’re not really worth sending them back.

Love the quality and price of these well constructed line of wire strippers. The joint is well made, with a nice finish and nice handles. I do electronics and own many very expensive types of mini pliers & strippers and these are of high quality. Get yourself a pair, This is my first Hakko product but after this experience I will be looking for the brand. Recommended!

I use these frequently at work for panel building, they are excellent. Very precise and easy to use. I find them comfortable for extended periods of time. The locking mechanism on the spring is great for storing them.

Disappointed, I bought these for my 7th and 8th graders to use to strip some very small gauge wires. They didn't hold up with (I am guessing) a dozen or so uses.

Hakko CHP CSP-30-2 wire stripper is a very convenient tool for my home electronic projects where I could easily strip the wires perfectly without losing some strained wires.

I have this version for larger gauge wire and another for smaller gauge wire and having been using both for a couple years now. The both look and perform basically like the day i got them. really nice tools.
