Are the 2015 remastered versions of Van Halen and 1984 better than the original 2000 remasters
This review is for the Deluxe package, not the musical content. Is it deluxe, or not? Standard albums bunged in a flimsy paper case = no, it is not deluxe. In fact, at the time of writing, it's cheaper to buy the 2 classic albums and the live album separately. Are the 2015 remastered versions of Van Halen and 1984 better than the original 2000 remasters? Again, no! Maybe if I had a multi-million pound stereo, I could argue that the sound had been improved, but in my living room, and indeed car, they sound the same. Add in the fact that there is no bonus material, or enhanced packaging, I don't think I'll bother with the rest of 2015 reissues.Lastly, what's my take on the Live album and Dave's voice? I love the album. It is what it is. What Dave lacks in high notes, he more than makes up for in charm and charisma.Overall, I wish I had just bought the Live album!!!

box has thin covers with poor quality of the discs, only the outer case has good quality
box has thin covers with poor quality of the discs, only the outer case has good quality, the disc cover is very fragile and badthe only thing that is good is the audio of the first 2 lps of the band that the live audio of the disc is disappointing

Not really deluxe but good vinyl
Great music but the vinyl is just in the slip jackets all together in one box and not in the original album sleeves, as other box sets do. Not great if you store your vinyl individually on the shelf. Not really deluxe, more economy in my opinion. But the vinyl itself is very good.

I like It
Have read the other reviews but to be honest, yes it could have been better for what you pay but it is still great to have this as part of my music collection. Though i still maintain that Tokyo Dome is the worst live LP i have come across

VINYL set: Great music - annoying packaging
Just a quick note about the packaging for the VINYL version of this deluxe set:I am having a vinyl frenzy at the moment and, having sold my VH LPs a long time ago, thought I would try out the 2015 vinyl offerings...so buying this would save me money cos I'm getting the live Tokyo Dome and the debut + 1984...BUT...these two extra albums are not in full sleeves, just in card inner sleeves (like a 12" single would come in) like the Tokyo Dome inner sleeves.Yes, they are printed with the album cover and reverse, but I want the full sleeve and inner sleeve that the rest of the stand alone remasters come with (boo hoo...throwing toys out of pram). So to save money, I have got the live album in a box without the live album artwork (which I don't really like, but it IS the official artwork so...) and I still have to get the debut and 1984 in the normal vinyl (cos THEY MUST MATCH THE OTHERS..rant gibber). I'll just have to hide the two albums behind the live album sleeves and pretend they're not there.Rant over.PS It's only this packaging that drops my opinion to 4 stars - the Dave studio albums get a minimum of 8 stars and the Tokyo Dome album gets 5 - even with Dave's occasionally bonkers vocals.
