It does work, but you have to really draw it back so it wallops the egg quite hard!Besides, please make sure the eggs are very fresh to boil. Soft boiled egg only. If it is cooked medium, it will/might crack the shell but it won't lift the top off or even separate it. And it leaves a massive amount of tiny shells to pick off.White, for some reason, has a better crack than brown. Perhaps it is the thickness of the shell.Do hold the hot egg onto the cup with a towel or something. It needs to be still for the plunger to work properly. Warning: Even though the plunger only makes contact with the egg, and not the egg cup, it will shatter a breakable egg cup, even a very thick sturdy one.
