Building a Shed (Taunton's Build Like a Pro) Kindle Edition

I am going to build a shed. It will be the death of me, most likely, but I am going to build a shed. Of all the books I have purchased on shed-building, this was hands-down the best of the lot. Speaking of lot, I have cleared an 8' x 12' space in the yard, and I am going to build a shed. My wife thinks I'm insane but I now have this book, an expensive miter saw, an angled ruler type thing, a box of screws and a dream. I am going to build a shed.

I build a shed using this book as a basic reference. I was expecting to build one of the plans in the book, but none of them were exactly what I was looking for. Its a good basic intro to shed building and I referenced it throughout the process. I wished it went into more detail on some of the critical steps like building trusses and doors, and installing windows. But overall I would say it was worth the cost as a reference.

I needed a shed of 12 x 16' dimensions. I looked at the many pre-built or build-on-site local offerings but was not impressed by the quality of materials and/or craftsmanship. I had never constructed a building but decided I could do at least as well as the thrown together sheds I looked at. I bought a few sets of plans and read much about shed building but still wasn't completely comfortable since I had trouble putting all of the pieces together in my mind. I decided that this book might fill in the gaps and it definitely did that plus more.A picture is worth a thousand words and this book has many pictures, so I guess it equals thousands of words about shed building. I did not follow any specific plan from the book but used it as a guide to develop my own plan. With the information provided I felt confident that I could not only build the shed but it would be done well.My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy (to toot my horn), and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, those sheds went up in less than one day while mine took months doing it solo. But I'm pleased with the outcome and this book was extremely useful to me as a guide.

This shed book mostly addresses sheds that the author has built in the past, and high-quality sheds at that. He does have tips on specific aspects of the shed construction in each example. I get value out of this book by getting ideas on what features will work for MY sheds that I design myself. It has terrific photos, all are professional in quality. Book is quality coffee-table style--shiny, thick paper and a soft cover that is also high quality. I like it.

This is a great book with a lot of good construction tips. The sheds featured in this book are probably built better than most peoples' homes. The author uses only the best materials and methods. It proved to be a great resource for my little 8' x 10' shed project. If you are turned off by the flimsy tin and home center kit sheds; if you want a shed that has some character and can be used as an extension of your home; then this book is for you.

From a novice to a pro, this book gives you all you need to build a quality shed. The writing, along with the photos and drawings provide all that you need to construct a shed.

I am building a new shed. Haven't do so in over 20 years, so I wanted to see what kind of ideas I could find. Very good instructions, and lots of pictures along the way. I plan to incorporate some elements from this book and the "Sheds: The Do-It-Yourself Guide for Backyard Builders" book, making a unique product. For some reason, I like the writing a little better in this one.

I shall be using ideas from this when I build my very own 'amazing space' garden structure.

Interesting and informative

I bought this book as a gift for my husband who is a builder. He had read the previous edition which at a holiday home we stayed at and we found it difficult to buy. This updated book did not disappoint and met all expectations, giving many joinery tips.
