I am long standing Juventus fan. Having to read what our former captain has to say was the motivation to buy this book. However, the book was a lot more than that. It helped me appreciate the differences in cultures and in footballing schools.For example, Italians are more serious about their football whereas the English are more laid back.The book discusses the game from every human aspect. The players, managers, clubs, youth systems, fans, referees, media .. all of it. And by the end of the book you can say why the English and Italians never saw eye to eye when it came to football.Disclaimer: Football here means Soccer.

A nice dissertation on the benefits and problems of both country’s approach to the game as well as some good insight into football management and player development. A little dated now. Many of the techniques and tactics he recommends have been adopted by most of the top teams in England now.

An excellent read. Full of insights. Very thought provoking. The chapter on Tactics & Formations (Chapter 6) was outstanding in it's ability to convey complicated ideas. Vialli is uniquely positioned to to explore English Football and Italian Calcio from an insiders point of viewer. Marcotti helps out, especially making it readable in English. Very glad I ordered this, and you will be too.

Very interesting book about Italian and English football, Vialli and Marcotti do a good job of answering some intrigueing questions about football and calcio

Excellent book about the cultural differences and how it impacts players growing up in Italy compared to England from a top level player/manager who has experienced both. Highly recommend.

A lot of interesting perspectives on different aspects of the game and players lives in general, starting at the lowest level comparing and contrasting Italian and English systems, presented in a very accessible reader-friendly way. It explains a lot about how / why differently players from different countries approach the game.

Good
