BAK 36304 Roll-X Tonneau Cover

I received the Roll-X tonneau cover for Christmas in 2012 (my wife purchased it from Amazon on November 29, 2012). I installed it in March of 2013 and absolutely loved it at first. In June of 2013, I spent a week camping in Wyoming and, after two days in the hot sun, the black felt mounted on the underside of the cover came free. The adhesive where the felt was mounted was very tacky and I carefully pressed it back into place. I had to do this many more times throughout the summer of 2013. Finally, in October of 2013, the adhesive would no longer hold and the felt would just hang down inside the bed. I called several times and got the same response – no one had heard of this problem. As the cover overall was still working well, I decided to live with the drooping felt.In late May of 2014, we had temperatures that reached the mid 90’s and I discovered that the cover was now buckling in on the top side. If it was rolled up, I couldn’t get it to unroll completely or correctly. It also became obvious that the fabric on the top side of the aluminum was separating as large “bubble” areas were showing up. When this would happen, I would roll out the cover as best as I could and then watch during the day as the fabric – and I assume the adhesive underneath – became soft the cover would flatten out. Once it was flat again, I would lock it in place and it would be good until I rolled it up again. I called and talked to customer service again and they said I would need to send pictures to the warranty department.The pictures I sent to the warranty department at BAK Industries clearly show that the cover is now in a state where it will no longer flatten out and the fabric is pulling in from the edges. This is indicative of the adhesive re-adhering but shrinking toward the center as well. Further, it appears that either an inferior adhesive was used in the manufacture of this product or the adhesive was not properly cured prior to ship.As the problems with the adhesive began well within the warranty period, and I have requested a full replacement of the cover at no charge. I have also offered to return the defective cover to BAK Industries for inspection by thier staff.So far, no response.
