Max and the Midknights (Max & The Midknights)

Great book for middle grade kiddos!
This is an adorable book for middle grade kids. The format, which is part text, part graphic novel makes it less overwhelming for many kids, especially those who may not love to read. The graphics also add so much to the story!Max desperately wants to be a knight. Traveling with her uncle, a troubadour, they come upon some bad luck and head back to her uncle’s home village of Byjovia. Things there are certainly not Heather same since King Conrad is no longer there. Max and her uncle get into a bit of trouble, and Uncle Budrick is taken by the new king Gastley. Max and some helpful new friends embark on an adventure to not only save Uncle Budrick, but also to help Byjovia go back to village that everyone loved! This was a very quick read. It has humor, adventure, and themes of family and friendship. I also love the fact that Max is a girl, and fights for the right of girls to be able to be knights! This is a definite winner!

My kids love these books
My 7 and 9 year love this book. We have all 3 in the series now. The stories are fun and the kids like reading them by themselves and together at bedtime.

So funny and a good lesson about gender for kids
Always good to have your kid read stories about girls who are heroes! It was a good chance to explain to my almost 6 yr old about how gender worked in the middle ages lol. Girls can be knights! 😌

My 7 year old loved this book
My 7 year old read this book in a single day. I got him the first three books in the series (which is all that was available when I ordered). He loved the books and started over with the first one as soon as he finished the third. It was a great distraction for a long car ride this summer.

Predictable.
Written by my eight year old son as his book review practice.“It was funny because they’re lots of good characters and plot twists, but I gave the book 4 stars because if you skip to page 24 and read to page 32 then you will know almost 45 more pages ahead of that page.”

Great book
This was a great book. My youngest loved this book and we laughed and giggled every time we read it together. Normal chapter books have always intimidated him but he loves comic book style ones. This book gives a great blend to both paragraph reading and comic book frames. He loved this book and is excited about reading more.

8 year old son read it nonstop
My son isn’t a strong reader and doesn’t read chapter books yet. He asked for this book after seeing it advertised on the Big Nate books that he loves. He read this book nonstop for 2 days whenever he could and really enjoyed it. We’ll be ordering the next books in the series.
