A really gorgeous filter. I'm not as camera/lens savvy as most but I use this on a BMPCC4K with a sigma 18-35 art and it does a really good job of softening out that hard digital look.

Just as expected, it arrived sooner than I thought it would. It comes within a small plastic Tiffen box. No damage or traces of previous usage on the package or on the filter whatsoever. It works great with my 35mm lens, especially when shooting at night with wider apertures, works like magic on highlights and skintones. I am in love. It is an awesome product. Highly recommend! Keep in mind that if you want to use it for longer lenses, you should go for something a bit stronger, like 1/2 or full 1. :)

Some people like this effect, some people don't even notice it. But what many people here like to point out, is that the product looks like it is used and/or dirty. Well, this is exactly how it works - the glass has some ND particles inside it and they may appear like oil and dust that you cannot remove no matter how long you rub it with your lens wipes. This is exactly what creates this bloomy effect. And yes, IMO it's still overpriced and overrated, but sometimes it can come in handy when you try to convince a client (most likely a woman of a certain age) that they look good on camera.

The Tiffen Black Pro-Mist is an amazing piece of kit. Well known in the film industry but a bit of a secret weapon in stills photography. The 1/4 Black Pro-Mist slightly mutes contrast and gives a pleasing halation to light sources. I enjoy shooting street photography at night with these filters. The effect gets more pronounced at longer focal lengths so be aware that if you shoot longer than 50mm you may want to consider the 1/8 filter.

I think I got lucky because my 1/4 Tiffen filter was in fact new and unopened (although this shouldn't be an issue/gamble at all in the first place!). Upon close inspection the filter has a very subtle dark matrix that's viewable at an angle. A/Bing on a 35mm Nikkor prime lens there is a subtle diffusion/softening difference which is exactly what I wanted. Looking forward to trying this out in a night time environment.

If you are reading this, you know how nice the results from a Pro-Mist filter are. So whats stopping you? I bought the 82mm to fit on a 77mm lens. I simply bought a step-up ring to connect then, OK, so now I can't use my lens hood but I got a matte-box. And a 4 x 4 filter was way too expensive. The filter is great. The seller was perfect. Item arrived a day early. Very happy.

Picked this up since diffusion filters seem to be getting a lot of attention. Decided to go with Tiffen since they are one of the industry standards. I compared the 1/4 against the 1/8 and decided on the 1/4 since you get more of an obvious effect. Be warned, shooting backlit sun will wash out pretty much all the contrast, so use with caution. I like to use it to create softer highlight roll off against lightbulbs

I received the product and it was as described. It felt well made and easy to screw onto the lens of my camera. Given the right situation, the pro-mist adds a vibe to the image, not sure how I'd describe it, perhaps a nostalgic look to the images, which I quite enjoy. I didn't tell my friends about the pro-mist and when I shared some photos, they definitely noticed the look and quite liked it as well. It's a good tool to have in the arsenal and I'd recommend it.

J'ai commandé un 1/4 mais j'ai reçu un 1/2 au début j'étais déçu mais finalement je trouve que l'effet est bien je crois que je vais le garder.

Es un buen filtro. Da el efecto deseado. Muy bueno para quitar la nitidez excesiva de las nuevas cámaras digitales. Lo uso con una Sony a7iii y definitivamente le imprime otro feeling al vídeo.
