this the genuine Skinners
The various names on the box are confusing, but this is the Skinner's Raisin Bran that we have liked since the 1970s (or earlier?). Excellent quality and taste. Raisins are fairly fresh, but I always add my own (Organic Raisins from Trader Joes). The organic version, called Erewhon, has really gone downhill. Rock-hard raisins and tasteless cereal. Avoid the Erewhon. Be sure it says "Skinners".UPDATE June 2019: All versions of Skinner's Raisin Bran are now equally bad. Stale raisins, poor cereal. I wrote to the company, now apparently owned by Post, and they sent me a gift cert. But the quality has not improved.

Skinner Raisin Bran
Skinner Raisin Bran Cereal was invented here in Omaha, Nebraska by The Skinner family of Skinner Macaroni fame. They eventually sold the name to U.S. Mills who owned the product name long before Attune Foods.Living in Omaha all my life this cereal was readily available in all grocery stores. Sadly the last few years it's become more difficult to find. (Not sure why, as Attune's other former U.S.Mills product Uncle Sam Cereal is widely found) I have seen Skinner's at only one local store for close to six dollars a box. Amazon offers a low price and shipping makes it easy to have an old time favorite back on my shelf. This Raisin Bran is not sweet like most, the raisins are not "dusted" with sugar. This is a great crunchy flake cereal. Treat yourself and see if you don't become a convert to America's FIRST Raisin Bran Cereal.

Did not like this cereal
I normally love raisin bran but I found the pieces of the bran to be too small and I felt like I was choking on them. The cereal is very healthy and the ingredients are wonderful but the size of the grains posed a problem for me and I do not have any health issue.

Attune Foods Ruins Skinners Raisin Bran
I thought I should warn others that Attune has significantly changed Skinner's Raisin Bran (which now also displays "Uncle Sam" on the box). It has removed the nice little bran flakes and replaced it with soft "whole wheat kernels". This is the same type of mushy flake things that it uses in their Uncle Sam Flax cereal. This new and improved cereal tasted so bad that I had to check the expiration date to make sure it hadn't gone bad. It wasn't expired, it was now "improved" or as they state on the box--New Look and Same Great Product. Why do these companies keep thinking that we will believe their marketing hype? Always be beware when a product is "improved", as it is usually degraded in some way.So after over 20 years, I have stopped buying Skinner's. If I want mushy flakes, there are other options on Amazon that taste better and are cheaper from Post, General Mills, etc.

Great Stuff! One memory that doesn't disappoint.
Skinner's Raisin Bran was a staple in our household since the 50s. My Dad ate it almost every day and I grew up with it. In recent years, it's been more difficult to find in any stores locally, so as a fluke, I looked for it on Amazon. I was thrilled beyond belief to find it and my daughter, who remembers having cereal with her Grandpa, has spoken for a box. It didn't disappoint! It was the same great flavor that I remembered and I'm so happy to be able to get it again.

best raisin bran
I have been eating this for 40+ years. The whole wheat berries stay crisp unlike the mashes in all other raisin brans and it is not sweet. I have noticed since Attune bought Uncle Sam's that the raisins often come out in clumps. Now they have changed the name so it is Uncle Sam that is emphasized not Skinner's. Foolish move- those of us who love this refer to it only as Skinner's- no need to identify it any further. As long as they don't mess with the steaming rolling and toasting of the wheat berries they will get away with this- but I don't trust large corporations which is what Attune is.

Liked It
I love the regular Uncle Sam cereal, which I buy through an Amazon subscription, so I thought I would try the Uncle Sam Raisin Bran. The raisin bran cereal is good, but I thought the raisins were awfully hard. Kinda like little pebbles lurking in the bowl. Dang. Still, I'll give it four stars because the cereal itself is good and if you leave the raisins at the bottom of the bowl so they can soak for a while, they soften up a little bit.

Just a bad batch this time? I hope so! This is my favorite Raisin Bran!
Typically, I LOVE this cereal because (1) it was the first Raisin Bran I ever ate and was provided to me by my beloved grandmother and (2) it doesn't become soggy within the first two minutes after milk is poured on it. However, for some reason that I do not quite understand, the bran flakes in the boxes of Skinner Raisin Bran that I ordered most recently are more like the former "sugar puffs" cereal - puffy, not crunchy. Yuck. I am hoping this was a fluke because I've got to get through four boxes of this stuff before I reorder. I'm going to give it one more try and hope that this was a mere processing error and not a conscious change on the part of Uncle Sam cereals. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it, please!)
