Diamond Green Light Strike Anywhere Matches

I was excited to find these as refill matches for a clay striker I bought on Etsy. Unfortunately they have very little of a white tip and only about every one in five match works.

This are sold as "Strike Anywhere Matches" - which is true only if you use a match striker, which defies the whole point of strike anywhere. These things crumbled when striking on brick, stone, rocks, etc... I need something that I can STRIKE ANYWHERE without having to keep a match striker handy. What a rip off at these prices too.

UPDATE: After using these matches for a while, I would never buy them again. Not only won't they light on any surface, but it's difficult to light them on their box. Do yourself a favor and pass on these matches.They are wood matches with sturdy shafts. However they only light on their box and other match strike surfaces.

Strike anywhere matches cannot be struck in any old way you want like normal matches. You strike the side of the coated top, not the very tip, against your surface of choice. This way you don't knock off the white tip. The match sparks, ignites the tip, viola. Anybody claiming these won't light consistently isn't striking them right.

Some people have commented that these are not 'Strike Anywhere' matches. Well, duh! They will not ignite if you should happen to strike the match against a roll of toilet paper, BUT if you should strike it against a rough piece of something like METAL, they work as they should They ignite.

Maybe one in a dozen will flame at all unless you set it off with another flame. They must have been stored in a humid warehouse for a while. Too bad. Diamond used to make some great matches. Buy somebody else's if you want a strike anywhere match. You'll be disappointed in these.

These are great matches, especially for those who enjoy the outdoors. Strike anywhere matches are currently quite difficult to find in stores, so this is a great place to get them at a reasonable price. I dipped them in melted candle wax before storing them in a water-tight container in my survival kit. Doing this greatly increases the burn time and makes them even better for using on camping and backpacking trips. I do not have to worry about keeping these matches in the box since of course they will light when struck just about anywhere. Go figure. Why would you want any other kind of matches? I highly suggest storing some cotton balls covered in petroleum jelly in a watertight container for tinder along with these matches for anyone building a fire outdoors. The seller shipped these quickly and even emailed me directly to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. Thanks for the great service.

Green-tips don't work as well as red-tip, heads break off more easily & harder to light off one's thumbn6.However, these are issues with the manufacture of the matches. Reviewing the Seller, the price was great as was the items availability (I can not find Strike-Anywhere Matches (neither Red nor Green tip) in any stores in my area (Northeast Ohio). The irony is not lost on me, since Ohio Blue Tip matches is one of the more widely known brands of Strike&Anywhere Match.I would highly recommend buying here over buying through Diamond™'s website because last I checked they charge about $79 in Shipping & Handling for even one box because through them you're paying for the Shipping Of Hazardous Materials because it's something highly flammable (obviously lol).
