Units works as expected
Since it's March and there is still snow on the ground I tested this unit in a few planted pots on the patio and it registered light level and moisture well. I could not test well enough for PH but I'm sure once we get to spring and start planting that we'll be able to test for PH as well. Overall I'm happy with the unit and expect to put it to use come Spring.

Gets the Job Done
The product is well made and works as advertised. I wish it had a backlight to make reading the results easier.

Great for the gardening novices
let me start by stating that I am not a "gardener" - I like to plant some flowers and herbs on my balcony but more often than not, kill them. This soil tester takes the guess work out of knowing what the soil is like, it's super easy to use, and clear to read so hopefully I'll be able to grow a nice crop of new herbs this spring.

The best soil tester
Takes some of the guess works out of your plant care.I had several plants die on me. I wasn't sure if I watering too much, or too little.Besides, we have some climate changes and the soil might dry up a little faster during summer and slower during winter or days with high humidity. With this soil tester, I can actually see how much moisture is in the soil. I was surprised, the soil seemed to be dry, but the meter showed sufficient moisture. If I don't use this, I would have watered at this stage and probably drowned the plant.

Piece of junk
I had heard that this was the way to go to make sure you aren't over watering your plants. When I ordered this I thought it was doing it's job. I would place it in plants that I thought were in need of water. It always said they were dry and thus, I proceeded to water them. Today though I decided to test in on some plants that I knew didn't need water because I had just gone through the whole process of watering them. Every single one of them said they were dry. Even when I reached my finger into the soil I felt the wetness. This made me really start to test it. I then put some soil in a pot and just soaked it through with water. After a little bit of draining I put the probe in and amazingly...it read dry. I then placed it in soaking wet soil and received the same results. Finally I just put in a glass of water and that read as dry too. This is the biggest waste of money ever and if you would like to have another hunk of junk to add to a landfill then by all means buy this. If I could give it negative stars, I would.

Inaccurate readings and the tip of one probe fell off in the soil after a couple uses.
Moisture meter is off. Said soil was dry directly after watering. Tested it in tap water and it gauge only went slightly above dry. The pH is about one whole point off when comparing it to a pH test using a universal indicator. The only thing that worked consistently was the light meter. The tip of one of the probes fell off in the soil after only a few uses so now it's completely useless.
