steam contacts plastic
A great convenience and an excellent buy. Heats well, pours exceptionally well (no drip), and has a very comfortable, functional handle. Chose this electric kettle because it is stainless steel. No boiling water is in contact with plastic. As one would expect however, steam condenses on the underside of the plastic lid, and this water must drip back into the boiling water. At $20, this pot is an excellent value, but I would gladly have paid more to have a stainless steel lid and a truly plastic free pot.

Good material, but has a few design problems.
I bought this to replace a cordless kettle I bought from Aldi. This one did not measure up to the one from Aldi, but it serves the purpose. The base is not constructed well enough to make placing the kettle back onto it very easy when you are done. You sort of have to move it around some till you find the right place. The top lid opening is too small, I always spill water going in if I am not very careful, and it doesn't close too well, you have to push it shut rather forcefully till it clicks and its just annoying. Other than that I like the stainless steel inside and the fact that the water does not touch plastic or aluminum when it heats, and that's the main reason I bought it over the other selections on Amazon.

UPDATE: 3 years of use. Easy-to-use, safe, quick, great electric kettle
Compact yet functional design. The handle has a protective part on the kettle so that you do not burn yourself, and it is fairly large, which I love- carpal tunnel sometimes gives me trouble holding things, but the handle is large and protects your hand very well. I can boil a couple of cups of tea (haven't filled it to the top yet) in under five minutes, which is perfect for running out to my 8am classes. The cord can coil around the bottom of the base, making it easy storage. The kettle itself comes off of the base (easily, but not so easily that you can bump it and come off-you have to pull up) to be completely disconnected, so you can boil across the room of where you pour- hence "cordless". I have found black marks on the bottom of the kettle, but I think I may have boiled water one time right after another (you're supposed to let the kettle cool first), and the kettle still works well. The spout is wonderful, and you don't have to worry about the water dripping down the side or spilling- the spout is basically drip-and-spill proof when pouring. I use it in my dorm, and it is quiet as to not wake my roommate. Good electric kettle for a reasonable price; I would buy it again in a heartbeat.Three-year update:I still love this kettle. After three years of moderate use (think at least three times per week) it still works perfectly. I really love how I can take it anywhere after boiling the water, as the base is heat-proof enough for any hard surface (so I can set it on my desk and not worry about it). It has developed calcification, but I just boil the juice from one lemon and it goes right away. Overall, an excellent product after three years. The only reason I would purchase a different electric kettle is if I wanted one with heat point settings; for my uses, standard tea-making and quickly boiling water for instant oatmeal, the single heat point (boil) is perfect. After three years, this kettle is still going strong.

not actually stainless steel
I just purchased this kettle and we were delighted with it. The size is perfect and the style very nice, love the brushed finish. Love the on/off switch, however, the water tasted funny, I couldn't get past this. I thought it needed to be used a few times. Still tasted funny. Finding the box and reading what little info it actually has, it is stated that only the HOUSING is stainless steel. I have no idea what the inside is constructed of, but I'm certain it isn't stainless and I will not drink from a kettle that is not stainless steel. Very poor product description, in my opinion

Inconvenient pouring.
Been using this for about two months. It heats water to boiling point ok, though not nearly as fast as one this replaced. But, we have one principal complaint. When you try to pour the boiling water from it, the water dribbles down the outside. You must pour exceedingly slowly to minimize the dribble. In fact, we have to resort to holding the kettle over the sink. When this one wears out, we will certainly try a different make.Added later -- this has now been in use for 6 months, and just ceased to work at all. Since we have never been happy with it, we're kind of glad it has quit so we can get a different make.

Great Kettle
Heats very fast. Decent capacity. Seems fairly sturdy for the price I paid. I have used it around 10 times in the 3 weeks I have had it without any problems. The cord is a little short. The base is very light weight. Neither of these things should be a problem if you are using it on a counter top but I like to use it at my desk. The cord drags the base off the edge of the desk at the slightest bump unless the kettle is on it. Even with that problem it is still more convenient than having to put a regular kettle back on the stove to reheat.

Good for a year - now dangerous
This kettle worked great for about a year, then it started doing funky things: turning back on after it had clicked off, making a hot plastic smell when in use. Now it is not boiling water, it keeps cycling off and on. I wouldn't leave it plugged in after use - it could be a hazard!
