Backyard Chickens: A Practical Handbook to Raising Chickens

For your first time being a chicken mom, it's a good book. Teaches you what to do and not to do, but being a mom to chickens is all a learning experience.

Would highly recommend this book to first time chicken owners. It is full of great advice on subjects not considered. Wish I had purchased this book first before a couple others. This book is beyond "Practical", it is far more awesome.

Got this chicken book for my wife. I can only guess it's an adequate book on the topic. I have no desire to do much of anything with chickens, other than occasionally eat their eggs that I picked up in the store in the morning; however, that will change as she would like to have them in our yard for reasons I can't possibly fathom.I initially thought it wasn't delivered since it said delivered but wasn't at my house. Fortunately, I'm friends with my neighbors, who received the package and called to let me know. Not the sellers fault, just delivered elsewhere.

I really enjoyed this guide on chickens. I’m a small animal veterinarian who is interested in keeping backyard chickens and was looking for a place to start. After reading this guide, I have a much better idea of what to expect, what kind of time commitment I can expect to be required, and what supplies I’ll need. This is and excellent introduction for a beginner.

Very informative book. If you are thinking about acquiring a little flock or looking for answers for various issues that arise, , I suggest reading this book. It's very informative and well written. The author is a subject matter expert and covers all aspects of chicken keeping in a easy to understand way. Once you have the basics down, coop and run management, feeding, cleanliness, etc, there will be other issues you have to deal with such as proper diet, illness, injury, social problems, hatchlings etc., this book is a must have.

For honest Review this has alot of great educational information that will help with knowledge in raising chickens. What a wonderful book.

Book is OK. Paperback is very cheap paper and printing. No colored pictures. Not very useful, I would recommend another book.

This book was informative and I would recommend it to anyone who is starting chicks. I have reread certain parts several times as things happen and it’s helped me grind the answer.

nice easy read and covers many aspects of chicken keeping

The book is nice but on the back cover it says that images are coloured but inside they are black and white. The printing is quite poor.

This is a great book for beginners like me, but I expected more details. The good thing is that I will likely be able to ask better questions on their web site and contribute myself on their community
