Basic but functional
Basic product, not much adjustability but exactly what I wanted. Cleans up easily.

Terrible
I can't figure out how anyone can use this slicer with the adjusting screw right in the middle where you slice. I sent mine back and bought a mandoline slicer at Traget. That one works great. Don't waste your money on this one

it works ok for hard vegetables, but try to use it with butter out of the refrigerator and it will not be as pleasant an experience. I think ill go for the other type that sits on the table and relegate this one to the trash heap.

good for quick jobs
There are pros & cons to this slicer. Here goes:Pros:CHEAP.Small/easy to store. All stainless steel.Easy to clean. The adjusting mechanism allows the blade to be fully out of the way for storage--no reaching-in-the-drawer accidents.Sliced a 2 inch diameter carrot (yes, that's right, 2 inches) about a foot long into 2-3 millimeter slices in under a minute. That was with the adjustment at the max thickness. Sliced shallots into 2 mm thick slices quickly.Cons:No hand guard or food holder--be careful & PAY ATTENTION, you are down to nothing in NO time; or use a mitt or some kind of glove.Slice thickness range is limited to 1 mm - 3 mm at best, almost pointless adjusting it, IMHO; at max thickness, the carrot slices were definitely not uniform, which is because the device is a little too unstable to keep it in the same position/angle when you're slicing a carrot. The adjustment knob is easy to completely unscrew & lose--keep an eye on it. I wouldn't keep this slicer in the reach of kids. You have to prop the slicer against a non-slip surface (or a non-slip bowl) to keep it from sliding everywhere. Not sure how long this blade will keep an edge & it is not removable or accessible enough for sharpening.Bottom line: Good for quick small jobs/quick cleanup/easy storage when you don't want to set up food processor attachments or a mandolin (or don't have the money or space for those). A potentially limited lifespan is probably worth this deal of a price. Watch your fingers.

Great Mandoline!
If you want to slice cucumbers, links, potatoes, carrots, or anything else 3/8" thick or less, you cannot beat this!

Not recommended
Unfortunately this item broke after 4 or 5 uses so I really can't recommend it. It would have cost me too much to return it in postage so I just threw it in the bin.
