Big fan of Okuma and the 450 Komodo, but not the 273
I bought a komodo 450 a few months ago and love it, as well as the cedros jigging rod, metaloid II and SCT-i rod. I wanted a new bass reel and thought of either the citrix or komodo, and went with the "nicer" komodo. I am a big fan of okuma, but was thoroughly disappointed in the komodo 273. Straight out of the box, the reel lacked the same smoothness that it's larger brothers had. The freespool was a lot shorter, as well as the reel just having a still feeling. I lowered the cast control and took off the breaks, but nothing improved.When I turned the cast control all the way up, I heard crunching and squeaking coming out of the reel.I love using the 450 komodo for larger fish, and was so excited to get the 273. I was hoping to have a great stainless steel bearing reel to use for saltwater bass. At this price point, I felt it was unacceptable for the reel to preform this way. Unfortunately had to go with the Tranx 200 for my bass reel.10/10 for the Komodo 450, 1/10 for the komodo 273.

Great reel but all are inferior to Daiwa
Great reel but needs the extra knob that daiwa has to keep you from backlashing.
