CQR Men's Tactical Pants Lightweight EDC Assault Cargo TLP104 / TLP105

*EDIT*I got another couple pairs and went a size up and length as well. They fit much better. I usually wear a 35/36x32 in everything (36 in these types of pants) but the 36 was already stretching the elastic on these pants and the length was way too short. Any time I bent over they would get snagged on my the top rear part of my boots then I looked like a wanna be paratrooper.The 34 length is perfect. So go a full size and length up from what you normally get.Surprisingly impressed with these pants. I bought them because I need black pants for work, and they are similar to the 5.11 pants I enjoy normally that have the front thigh pockets. I was using the knock off dickies from wal-mart (I don't know why) and 6 pairs lasted about 6 months before I got annoyed for the material thinning and the pocket velcro coming completely off. They, and other dickies are exactly the same price as these pants, around $30. So If you are like me and looking for something along those lines, and familiar with 'tactical' pants or wore a uniform for the military and fell in love with how simple it all was having ripstop and cargo pockets everywhere at all times, then I recommend the CQR's. I normally wear a 34/36 waist and I went with a 36, just like I do in 5.11/condor/tru-spec/etc etc.. I maybe could have even gone with a 38 because the elastic does stretch when I put them on. So keep that in mind, and just try the next size up on these to avoid trying to make pants that are too small work. Just return them if they are too big, but I seriously doubt they will be. My next pair will be a 38, and every pair after that will be too. As for the material and durability, it seems to be the standard rip-stop and well constructed. The cargo pockets don't expand at all, which I find a downside of most cargo pants now days. I actually use them, so stuffing my gloves or something in them creates a noticeable bulge. The crotch is gusseted, and I have honestly never had that problem so many thick thighed people seem to have. I am 6'0 and 190 pounds, so I walk normally and don't do splits. So I expect them to outlast dickies that I am fed up with and I may even swap from my 5.11's to these all together. I just wish they had a more jean like look in their lineup. Something like the 5.11 Ridgelines would be great.

Sturdy pants, pretty much what I expected, except for the cargo pockets. There is an elastic waist, and the waist size seems to be measured with the elastic pretty much fully stretched, so they always feel a bit snug in the waist. Below the waist they flair out to a very comfortable fit in the hips and legs. They are pretty warm while riding a motorcycle in the Florida heat, about like a new pair of jeans. They are also a bit stiff. I have washed them several times in an attempt to relax the fabric a bit. That is happening but will take a few more wash cycles to get them as mellow as I like them. On the other hand, maybe you like them crisp? Fabric quality and workmanship are very good (exception: I did have to open the button hole for the inside-the-fly button, the button hole was properly sewed in but the fabric between was not clipped. It was simple to fix, but got overlooked by the quality folks.) Biggest negative for me is the small, tight cargo pockets. The cargo pockets are wide enough but are simple patch type, not "boxed" at the bottom, so they are smaller than I like. If you try to use the cargo pockets for much more than a cell phone or some paperwork they get uncomfortable on your leg, and create "leg bumps" on the outside. If you don't use the cargo pockets much you will probably like these pants a lot, but if you do use them regularly, you will likely be disappointed.

The pants fit well and the color is accurate to the picture. However, my keys ripped a hole in the pocket of these pants during my first day of wear. The same keys that have been in my uniform pocket and (other brand) pockets countless times. Compared to my wool duty uniform and (other brand) pants these just aren't made to last. Additionally, they have a conventional rear pocket instead of the more tactical large, angled, open rear pocket of (other brand) pants. I do not care for the more conventional rear pocket as much because it is not as accessible for items such as handcuffs, knives, batons, etc.If you are just shooting stationary or walking around these pants are fine. If you are doing anything more demanding I suggest spending $15 more and getting a top-brand or something of similarly high quality.
